Friday, February 20th and Saturday, February 21st, brave participants in the SUPER Plunge took 24 “icy dips” into Lake Michigan as part of a fundraising effort for the Illinois Special Olympics. We supported the Plungers in the best way we know how – by providing hot pizza!
This weekend Long Grove will host its annual Apple Festival. The Festival is all about everyone’s favorite part of fall, you guessed it, apples! You can bet you will see plenty of Long Grove’s famous brown bag apple pies, apple cider donuts, hot apple cider, and anything else apple-related you could ever want. Bring the family and don’t forget to come hungry!

The Block Party will go down Saturday, September 20th, just outside the Goose Island Brewery at Fulton & Wood. Goose Island Brewing Company will feature some exclusive, rare beers, and there will be plenty of good food to chow down on. Beer cotton candy, anyone?
Saturday’s Block Party will also feature live music with two stages. One stage is dedicated to local bands – Heavy Timers, Secret Colours, and Twin Peaks, while the other stage will feature groups like Thao & the Get Down Stay Down and The Breeders.

The race will begin and end at Soldier Field and it’s sure to be a fun kickoff event for football season. The Bears promise a gameday-like atmosphere for the pre-race pep rally with appearances by the Bears Drumline and Staley Da Bear. Check out the Bears’ event page for registration and race details.
At Thursday’s race, runners will pick to run for their favorite player’s “team.” Between Lance Briggs, Jay Cutler, Brandon Marshall, and Peanut Tillman, who would you run for? Whether you’re running in the race or not, let us know in the comments!
The Fest will feature live music, family-fun activities, and of course lots and lots of sausage. SausageFest goers will enjoy sausages from vendors like Bobak’s, Chicago’s Dog House, Bari, Paulina Market, Gilbert’s Craft Sausages, and Haute Sausage. The highlight of the Fest will be the crowning of the Sausage King of Chicago. Contestants for this prestigious title have been raising money for the Wounded Warrior Project. Whoever raises the most money will be crowned the Sausage King!
