When your Lou Malnati’s pizza delivery comes to the door, piping hot and ready to eat, that feeling of excitement really can’t be beat. Because…deep dish, right?
But if you really pause to think about it, you wouldn’t be eating that deep dish pizza without the work of the delivery driver who brought it to you!
So what’s it like to deliver Chicago’s best deep dish pizza?
We caught up with two of our delivery drivers and asked them that question! Here’s what they had to say…
I have been a driver at Lou Malnati’s for almost 5 years. Over the years, I have worked at five locations: Lincolnwood, Buffalo Grove, Northbrook, Libertyville, and now Mount Prospect. Carryout locations do a big delivery business, so during my average 5-hour shift, I will make about 4 deliveries per hour. It’s good money! Besides the pizza, there are definitely perks to working at Lou’s, like flexibility for one. I have 2 kids so I need to be able to switch my schedule around easily. The benefits are also nice, like my 401(k) and dental insurance. Working for management teams I respect is also important to me, and something I have found at Lou’s.
I have a carpet cleaning business, but I started working as a delivery driver for Northbrook Lou’s because I wanted some extra cash. My daughter worked here, and I also had a friend that was a driver for Lou’s in Wilmette for many years so I knew they treated their employees well. I work 3 nights a week, and usually get about 2-4 deliveries per hour. I also have the flexibility to pick up more shifts when my carpet cleaning business is slower, especially in the winter. I like the convenience and flexibility of working for Lou’s.
Besides the benefits mentioned by Svilen and George, Lou Malnati’s delivery drivers have the potential to earn up to $20 per hour, they enjoy free employee meals while working, a fun work environment, opportunities for growth, and more!
