Watch out Hollywood, Lou’s is taking over the spotlight! Our delicious deep dish pizza was recently featured on TLC’s popular reality show Long Island Medium when Theresa Caputo dined with her husband at the Lou Malnati’s Gold Coast location. She even had time to squeeze in a reading for a local fan!
Lou was also recently featured in a segment on “Morning Drive” on the Golf Channel. Marc Malnati got in the kitchen with host Matt Ginella and showed him what Chicago-style deep dish is all about. See the clip here.
Speaking of Hollywood, we’ve had quite a slew of celebrities come through the Windy City this summer and many have made sure to get a taste of the best deep dish around! On July 9th Justin Bieber has pizzas delivered to the United Center, and actor Neil Flynn, best known for his role on Scrubs dined in at our River North restaurant. The same weekend, the Jonas Brothers stopped in while in town for a concert of their own. Glenbrook North alum and current 2nd baseman for the Cleveland Indians, Jason Kipnis ordered pizzas for the entire clubhouse following their game at US Cellular Field against the White Sox on June 30th. And most recently, Ashton Kutcher dined in at our River North restaurant location on Sunday, July 14th after being spotted at the Taste of Chicago festival over the weekend with girlfriend Mila Kunis.

Wasn’t there a branch of Lou Malnati’s on Long Island in the 70s? I seem to remember eating their twice, but I can’t find any mention of it anywhere!
Hi John, great memory! We did have two New York locations in the mid to late 70s, but unfortunately they didn’t work out and we were forced to close. We moved on to focus on expanding in the Chicago area.
Thank you for confirming that there was a Long Island presence back in the 1970s. I loved the branch in Commack / Elwood. Around ’79, they reopened as the Chicago Pizza Pub and operated with the same menu until the early 1990s when they closed, leaving a sushi restaurant to open in its place. God, the memories I have of that place. I cam still taste the Mostaccioli in my mind.
Bring it back to Long Island! We miss it!
