The first Deep Dish Dash was held in 2012, to celebrate the cancer survivors on staff at Lakewood Lou’s. One of those team members was Meagan Sunde, who lost her battle with cancer in November 2014. This year, to honor Meagan, to celebrate our involvement in the Lakewood community, and to raise money for the Family Health Partnership Clinic’s breast cancer fund, we brought the dash back!
Check out our photo album below for a recap of the day. If you participated in the race, you might even spot yourself running or walking!
All Chicagoland locations will open at 4pm on Sunday, August 14th so employees can enjoy our Annual Company Picnic with their families. We appreciate your understanding!
Every year, Lou Malnati’s team members from all of our locations get together to celebrate each other and the company we work for. Check out a recap video from our picnic a few years ago to see what we’re all about…
Looks like fun, right? Thinking about joining our team? Check out our open positions ›
All proceeds from this race will benefit the Family Health Partnership Clinic’s breast cancer fund, which helps uninsured women in McHenry County gain access to life saving screening, education, and care coordination. Raising funds for this organization is just one of our reasons for organizing this race; we also “dash” for a few other reasons…
1. Community. Lou Malnati’s is proud to be a part of the Lakewood community for the past nine years. Through this event, we want to celebrate together.
2. Support. Lou Malnati’s Lakewood has three breast cancer survivors on staff. Raising money for a cause that helps others who are going through the same fight is a great way for us to support them, while also giving back to our community.
3. Meagan Sunde. Meagan was a member of our opening team at Lakewood and played a large part in creating the close family culture that our team still enjoys today. On November 19, 2014 we lost Meagan to her long battle with cancer. Meagan faced her sickness head on as she did with all things, and she was an inspiration to many. She was honest, kind, and always the life of the party. The Deep Dish Dash is one of the many ways that Meagan’s legacy lives on.
(Pro tip: register prior to Tuesday, August 2nd for early bird pricing!)
On May 5, 1986, 30 years ago today, we opened our 6th pizzeria in Chicago’s River North neighborhood at 439 North Wells Street. This was an exciting accomplishment on its own, but it was even more exciting because this was the first Lou Malnati’s Pizzeria within the Chicago city limits.
Looking at this bustling pizzeria today, you would never know the Malnati family almost had to close the doors just a few months after its opening. A CTA construction project shut down Wells Street and business took a big hit. Fortunately, they persevered, and today, River North Lou’s is one of our busiest restaurants!
Our “Balloon Platoon” is setting up shop from 5-7pm at River North Lou’s. Place an order for dine-in or carryout (minimum $10 purchase required) and win a prize! Everyone is a winner, with great prizes including t-shirts, hats, free appetizers, free desserts, and more, but one lucky customer will win a $100 gift card!
How are we celebrating? Join our Lou’s crew, along with Mason, Remy, and Alabama from the Big 95.5 morning show at Lou Malnati’s Gold Coast between 12-2pm! We’ll have FREE deep dish pizza (of course), some great tunes, and…
You probably haven’t because we definitely just made it up, but there will be prizes. Lots of prizes.
