There’s nothing quite like that streeeeeeeeeetch of mozzarella cheese on a Lou Malnati’s deep dish pizza!
Customers stopping by the restaurant to dine-in or pick up dinner spun a prize wheel for a chance to score some Lou’s swag, including gift cards, Lou’s shirts, frozen pizzas, and more!
Heidi has been battling a terminal illness called Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis since age three. The heartfelt story began earlier this week when Chance the Rapper, who is a regular Lou Malnati’s customer, heard of Heidi’s situation from the Lou Malnati’s management team. He went out of his way to ensure the teen had tickets to the Coldplay concert in Chicago Thursday night. From there, Martin was made aware of her situation and love for the band, and adjusted his travel plans to make time to visit with her.
They spent time together at the Lou Malnati’s located near Midway Airport, where Hernandez is employed.
“I met Chris Martin and it all feels like a dream. He was really encouraging me to not give up and told me I was awesome and to always remember that,” says Hernandez after their visit.
Heidi is currently battling a serious illness, but she continues to come to work with a smile and her hard work and perseverance do not go unnoticed! Heidi is a huge Coldplay fan, and wanting to do something special for her, her manager reached out to Chance the Rapper and asked for help scoring some tickets to the show at Soldier Field.
There are a lot of things we like about Chance. For one, he’s a big fan of our pizza! But most importantly, he has a heart of gold.
We call it the “Malnati DNA,” when team members share the core values that have made Lou Malnati’s great, and Heidi is a shining example of this. We are proud to have her on our team.
Thank you, Chance for helping to make this possible for Heidi!

What goes on at a Lou Malnati’s Company Picnic?
The picnic is a day where our entire Chicagoland team (our Phoenix team enjoyed their picnic in May!) comes together for a day of fun. We start it off with a soccer tournament, winner gets bragging rights for the year, and each store designs a team t-shirt that shows off their creativity and team spirit. There’s family fun games and entertainment, and of course, food.
We appreciate your understanding as we continue this tradition.
