Amidst the excitement of the Chicago Cubs’ celebratory World Series parade, Vincent from Antonio’s in Cleveland traveled to Chicago to pay up on his bet with Marc Malnati. And by pay up, we mean he got tomato sauce dumped on his head!
Of course, we had to capture this moment so it could live on in history. Check out the video below!
Shout out to Vincent from Antonio’s for being such a good sport, and an even BIGGER shout out to our very own Chicago Cubs for a great season. What a ride, what a team!
To put our money where our mouth is…or should we say, to put our deep dish where our mouth is, we’re challenging Cleveland pizzeria, Antonio’s to a friendly wager.
Check out Marc Malnati’s challenge to Antonio’s below!
We have a reply! Vincent from Antonio’s has accepted the wager…with a few modifications.
At Lou Malnati’s Flossmoor, we have been serving up deep dish pizza for a little over a week since our opening on October 12th, but Marc Malnati was officially welcomed back to the area at a formal ribbon cutting ceremony with Mayor Braun and Chamber of Commerce officials yesterday afternoon.
After the first Lou Malnati’s Pizzeria in Flossmoor closed in 1978, this opening is especially sweet for the Malnati family, because this time, deep dish is here to stay!
If you haven’t stopped by our newest carrout yet, the ribbon has been cut and we are officially open for business! Lou Malnati’s Flossmoor is located at 3315 Vollmer Road in the Flossmoor Commons Centre, offering carryout, delivery (within zone), and catering.
It’s official! Earlier today, Rick Malnati was joined by Mayor Rahm Emanuel for a ground breaking at the site of the next Lou Malnati’s Pizzeria, located near Midway Airport at 6456 South Cicero Avenue!
Illinois Speaker of the House Michael Madigan, Alderman Marty Quinn, President of the Malnati Organization, Mark Agnew, and Director of Facilities, Sasha Milosavljevich were also on hand to celebrate the ground breaking. Malnati shared excitement about joining the growing Midway neighborhood:
“We are thrilled to be able to join the Midway neighborhood. A number of developments are breaking ground along Cicero Avenue, and we’re excited to see the neighborhood change for the better.”
Mayor Emanuel echoed this sentiment, saying, “This new pizzeria is a win for the Midway neighborhood.” After the speeches and ground breaking, the group also enjoyed a “first bite” of Lou Malnati’s deep dish pizza.
Check out a few photos from the day below…
What was the total? Upwards of $280,000!
These much needed funds will be donated to cancer research and treatment programs at the Northwestern Brain Tumor Institute, Lurie Children’s Hospital, and Gilda’s Club. We are proud to continue to support these organizations!
The Cancer Research Benefit took place on Saturday, September 17, 2016 and guests embraced the theme of the event by donning Hawaiian shirts and hula skirts for a “Lou’au.” We also held our first ever online auction after the event, raising even more money for the cause.
Thank you again to all of the supporters of the 46th Annual Lou Malnati’s Cancer Research Benefit…we’ll see you next year!
