On March 28th, 12 members of our Lou Malnati’s Lakewood crew volunteered their time at the Crystal Lake Food Pantry where they helped pack and organize food and lent a helping hand wherever they were needed.
When one of our store teams is passionate about a particular organization in their community, Lou Malnati’s empowers them to donate their time by organizing a volunteering event. For every hour team members spend volunteering, Lou Malnati’s donates $10 back to that organization.
Our Lakewood team was able to serve the Crystal Lake Food Pantry with both their time and a $300 donation from Lou Malnati’s to do even more good in the future.
Laughs at the Lake is an annual fundraising event for the Boy Scouts of America in McHenry County. Guests assembled to participate in a raffle and tried locally crafted beverages from Crystal Lake Brewing all while listening to bits by emerging Chicagoland comedians.
Philanthropy, deep dish, beer, and comedy? This event is no joke!
Saturday, April 9th, members of our Lakewood Team served pizza at Hannah Beardsley Middle School in Crystal Lake for the Great Lakes Steelpan Festival, which featured music from the steelpan, a Caribbean instrument made out of 55 gallon oil drums.
They had a great turnout with 4 bands (1 local, 1 from Chicago, and 2 from Ohio) and guest artists from Wisconsin, Virginia, New York, and even Denmark! The festival ran all day with clinics, rehearsals, and workshops during the morning and afternoon, and then an evening concert. During their break for lunch, members of the bands and volunteers enjoyed some Lou’s deep dish pizza, which was a first for many out of towners! We think they’ll be back for more!
The walk was organized by the Alzheimer’s Association, and about 450 people participated in the fundraising event. Managers from our Lakewood location were on hand at the event to serve slices of deep dish pizza as a post-walk snack.
The Walk to End Alzheimer’s is held annually nationwide in more than 600 communities. It’s the world’s largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support, and research. Funds raised form Sunday’s walk will go towards achieving the vision of the Alzheimer’s Association: a world without Alzheimer’s disease.
