On Saturday, May 28th, our Elk Grove Village pizzeria fed the veterans who are participating in the Route for the Brave walk across America.
After enjoying our pizza on Saturday, the vets participated in the big Memorial Day parade downtown, and were honored at Monday’s Cubs game by throwing out the first pitch. The 3,100 mile trip will take 4 months to complete and is being done to gain support and awareness for our nation’s veterans and their families.
Saturday, April 9th, members of our Lakewood Team served pizza at Hannah Beardsley Middle School in Crystal Lake for the Great Lakes Steelpan Festival, which featured music from the steelpan, a Caribbean instrument made out of 55 gallon oil drums.
They had a great turnout with 4 bands (1 local, 1 from Chicago, and 2 from Ohio) and guest artists from Wisconsin, Virginia, New York, and even Denmark! The festival ran all day with clinics, rehearsals, and workshops during the morning and afternoon, and then an evening concert. During their break for lunch, members of the bands and volunteers enjoyed some Lou’s deep dish pizza, which was a first for many out of towners! We think they’ll be back for more!
On Friday, February 5th, our Elk Grove Village pizzeria sampled slices of deep dish pizza at Elk Grove High School during the basketball games as a partnership with local start up photography company, Varsity Views.
While they were busy taking action shots of the games, we were busy refueling the hungry fans and athletes with the best pizza in Chicago! You know what they say, pizza and basketball go hand in hand… at least, that’s what we always say!
The event was attended by local business members, with entertainment from the violinist group Four Strings Attached, which is comprised of children between the ages of 4 and 18.
It was a fun night of networking, great music provided by some talented kids, and lots of deep dish pizza!
The walk was organized by the Alzheimer’s Association, and about 450 people participated in the fundraising event. Managers from our Lakewood location were on hand at the event to serve slices of deep dish pizza as a post-walk snack.
The Walk to End Alzheimer’s is held annually nationwide in more than 600 communities. It’s the world’s largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support, and research. Funds raised form Sunday’s walk will go towards achieving the vision of the Alzheimer’s Association: a world without Alzheimer’s disease.
Our Buffalo Grove pizzeria served up slices of deep dish pizza at the Temple Chai Family Fun Day in Long Grove on August 23rd. What started out as a rainy morning turned into a beautiful, sunny day for family-fun activities. Our Buffalo Grove managers passed out slices of pizza while adults and children enjoyed fun activities like dancing, a dunk tank, jump house, potato sack races, an egg toss, and scavenger hunt, just to name a few.
Everyone loved the pizza and we were glad to see some of the kids try their first slice of deep dish! We weren’t even surprised when they came back for seconds!
